Former New York City Bill de Blasio posted a lengthy message this morning to Twitter announcing that he will NOT be running for Governor of New York:
I am not going to be running for Governor of New York State, but I am going to devote every fiber of my being to fighting inequality in the state of New York. pic.twitter.com/cBZ03BpO0s

Although, we would have loved to see him embarrass himself one more time in the primary:

And the announcement was somewhat of a “surprise” as he’s been hinting at a run for months now:
Surprise news this morning from former #NYC Mayor. Many expected him to announce a run for Governor. https://t.co/qEJpne6iqS

He was even polling well of late:
After months of teasing, polling, preparing — and a pretty good poll result for him today — de Blasio takes a pass on running for governor. https://t.co/9dz1UGIPvU

And he did admit to some errors as NYC mayor, like traveling from Gracie Mansion to Brooklyn by car to go to the gym:
Bill de Blasio announces he will *not* run for governor, in a video about his accomplishments as mayor around Covid and income inequality and an acknowledgment of his missteps — including going to the Park Slope Y while living in Gracie Mansion. Story TK. https://t.co/S7db7kYQF4

And he mocked killing the groundhog:
