New reporting from Deadline on an affidavit submitted as part of the investigation into the shooting of a crewmember by Alec Baldwin on the set of “Rust” in New Mexico last week says the way weapons were handled on set was altered to comply with COVID-19 protocols:
Info posted via @DEADLINE from a #RustMovie investigation affidavit: the way the production crew handled weapons was altered for #Covid protocol. It's hard to overstate how insane that is…

Actor and Twitchy favorite Adam Baldwin talked about this possibility yesterday:

Here’s what he tweeted on Monday:
Did COVID protocols that segregate crews into A,B & C groups put the armorer in Group B and therefore required to socially distance from close contact with the A team (e.g., principle actor/producer, director, cinamatographer, 1stAD)?

Just, wow:
Goes to the theory that the armorer wasn’t on the production’s COVID “A-Team” and, because this was the first shot after lunch… etc. etc.https://t.co/gve2pPrwnr

Adam also added that the industry hasn’t had an incident like this in 30 years:
So how bad does a production have to screw up in order to get a live firearm on set and in the hands of an actor, and for that actor to then actually point it at someone and pull the trigger?

As for what Alec Baldwin will do next, he’s taking some time to “re-center himself”:
Oh.

Maybe that’s code for, “Meet with defense attorneys”?
“@PiersMorgan’s initial reaction has taken somewhat of a turn, proposing that Alec Baldwin’s negligence as an Executive Producer for the film is as equally questionable as his pulling of the trigger.”https://t.co/bdz1G9bIl2
