Nicholas Kristof has resigned from the New York Times to consider a potential run for governor of Oregon:
Nicholas Kristof, after 37 years at The New York Times as a reporter, editor and opinion columnist, is leaving the newspaper as he considers running for governor of Oregon, the state where he grew up. https://t.co/0mVig79bFP

He said he’d be an “idiot to leave” the NYT, but he just loves Oregon so, so much:
Nick Kristof, the twice Pulitzer-winning NYT columnist, leaving ahead of likely run for Oregon governor
“Precisely because I have a great job, outstanding editors and the best readers, I may be an idiot to leave. But you all know how much I love Oregon..” https://t.co/uhbvPNM9Fn

It’s a pattern. First, an older white male journo, Matthew Dowd, thinks he can run for office in Texas, and now this:
there's a pattern forming of older white male journos who think they're the change Dems are looking forhttps://t.co/ubAiT1sj4D

So, what exactly are his qualification for the job?
1. If you're going to try to get a job for which you have no practical experience, maybe start somewhere lower on the ladder. City council, say. State rep. Even the House, where you can be bad at it and not do too much damage… https://t.co/hHn2ttU6ew

And:
2. Why is it always "I've never done any job like this before, so I should be…president maybe. Or at least governor." Kristof is a good columnist, but this is the arrogance of celebrity.

We wish him good luck:
Hi @NickKristof – Good luck in your run for governor. pic.twitter.com/zlvicQOzya

He’s going to need it:
Kristof literally went to Portland, stood in the middle of a crowd launching incendiaries at a federal building and said "I don't see anything"
Portland and Oregon get what it deserves and once again another *journalist turns out to be exactly who we always thought they were.
