At today’s coin toss between the Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Rams, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott reportedly said Dallas wanted to kick off to start the game rather than deferring the decision, which means the Rams will receive the opening kickoff as well as the kickoff in the second half:
The Cowboys won the toss and Dak Prescott, rather than deferring… said they wanted to kick to start the first half. The Rams will now receive to start both halves.

This would be quite the mistake, if true:
.@MikePereira on TV broadcast explained that the Rams will get the kickoff in the first AND second half, after Dak Prescott said "We'll kick" after winning the coin toss, instead of "Defer." Very interesting.

But Fox released audio that proves Prescott did say “defer.” Granted, it’s jumbled in with him also saying he wanted to kickoff, but it’s pretty clear (at least to us) that he said it:

No word yet if the refs will fix this going into the second half. We’ll keep you posted.
