Ted Cruz offers to team up with AOC to make birth control available over-the-counter

Last week we told you how Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweeted that “birth control should be over-the-counter”:

Psst! ? Birth control should be over-the-counter, pass it on.

— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) June 7, 2019

We also pointed out to the former bartender that, yes, birth control should be OTC but it’s Planned Parenthood that blocked it:

Of course Planned Parenthood opposes over-the-counter birth control. While this would certainly ‘increase access’ it would decrease PP’s share of birth control sales.

Anyway, Sen. Ted Cruz just offered to work with the democratic socialist and make it happen:

I agree. Perhaps, in addition to the legislation we are already working on together to ban Members of Congress from becoming lobbyists, we can team up here as well. A simple, clean bill making birth control available over the counter. Interested? https://t.co/7kh3kqxN1w

So maybe this will finally happen? There’s bipartisan support for, that’s for sure. Here’s pro-life conservative Tiana Lowe, for example:

IT'S HAPPENING AND I'M SO HAPPY!!! https://t.co/xBQh4YDAKi https://t.co/W0ZE9YoAKx

And Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas:

Not sure what is going on here, but let's all cheer it on! https://t.co/GJuISwHf2G
