Journos are already taking a quote from the just-released Mueller report out of context, and it’s a big one.
Yes, according to the report, President Trump did say when alerted to the appointment of a Special Counsel, “This is the end of my Presidency. I’m f***ed.”:
But, SURPRISE! That’s not the complete picture. Later on in the report, the President reportedly said, “Everyone tells me if you get one of these independent counsels it ruins your presidency. It takes years and years and I won’t be able to do anything. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me.” This makes it pretty clear that President Trump didn’t mean this would end his presidency, as in he’d be forced to leave office but instead meant it would hamper his ability to get things accomplished as President:
