The Associated Press is under fire for including this line in its write-up of the death of The Federalist’s Bre Payton, “In recent appearances on Fox News, Payton had condemned what she called ‘fake news’ media coverage of President Donald Trump”:
Why is this necessary @AP? Bre Payton died suddenly at a very young age and you’re politicizing it? pic.twitter.com/P1sn7x7FwW

Really? That’s what they focused on?
They knew exactly what they were doing when they reduced her body of work to that particular comment. One might even call it a dog-whistle. I feel sorry for them.

“Just disgusting” pretty much sums it up:
At this point I feel pretty immune to media bias rage, but this just disgusting.

More criticism:
Though the AP reduced @Bre_payton 's journalistic output to "condemned fake news media," she should be remembered as a prolific writer as well as a pundit; see her fantastic article on the homeless problem in DC's NoMa, where both of us lived https://t.co/SAUjZiCld5

By reducing @Bre_Payton’s work to nothing but this, they actually manage to live up to the monicker TBQH. https://t.co/NemKFDfZuH

And they mention it in the 4th paragraph before any positive quotes about her. Shameful.

Unreal. I’ve also seen some vile user comments that make me rethink my presence on this platform. Bre was a lovely woman who was endlessly kind and thoughtful.

AP just proved Bre Payton's point.

Are you surprised? Remember how @AP covered their first article on the death of Pres. Bush 41? @AP can't cover the death of a republican/conservative without it being political.

So sickening! https://t.co/JlxpijfYnJ

Over to you, AP:
Fix this article and apologize, @AP.https://t.co/kE00Z6VXCK
