Chris Hayes gets honest about why MSNBC doesn't cover global warming

MSNBC’s Chris Hayes got honest with his fans last night on Twitter when he admitted that the network doesn’t cover global warming because it’s a ‘palpable ratings killer.’

The admission came in the middle of this thread where Hayes was commenting on the deadly wildfires sweeping Greece and a report from Grist’s Eric Holthaus that “climate changes makes wildfires worse”:

Hayes, however, was then criticized for just tweeting about the issue and not covering it on his show:

But, surprise! After 20+ years of climate alarmism, viewers don’t care, even those of liberal MSNBC:

When tweeter told Hayes to do his job better and then maybe viewers will care (wishful thinking):

And another called this a “bulls*it excuse”:

Hayes responded with, “it’s just a fact about how media markets work”:

NOT GOOD ENOUGH, CHRIS! “This is life and death,” don’t you know?

Of note, the NY Times article Holthaus links to does not mention climate change at all, instead calling the wildfires “an annual occurrence”:

Wildfires are an annual occurrence in Greece, but a drought and a recent heat wave, with temperatures over 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius), have helped make this the country’s deadliest fire season in more than a decade. Sixty people were killed in a 2007 blaze that swept through the country’s Peloponnese region.

And there are reports that the outbreak of new fires is from arsonists, not nature:

Fires are a recurring problem during the hot, dry summer months in Attica.

Officials quoted by AFP news agency have suggested the current blazes may have been started by arsonists looking to loot abandoned homes.

“Fifteen fires had started simultaneously on three different fronts in Athens,” said government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos.

Greece, he added, had requested drones from the US to “observe and detect any suspicious activity”.

Weird how that when you report the facts, the global warming narrative goes bust.
