CBS and CNN go with BS FAKE NEWS survey that says U.S. is the 10th most dangerous country in the world for women

Trust the media, they said…

America, according to this headline, is one of the 10 most dangerous nations in the entire world for women:

Other nations on the Top 10 list from these “experts” are India, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, Yemen and Nigeria:

The article is based on this totally garbage survey from the Thomson Reuters foundation:

The United States ranked as the 10th most dangerous country for women, the only Western nation to appear in the top 10. The United States shot up in the rankings after tying joint third with Syria when respondents were asked which was the most dangerous country for women in terms of sexual violence including rape, sexual harassment, coercion into sex and the lack of access to justice in rape cases. It was ranked sixth for non-sexual violence.

The survey was taken after the #MeToo campaign against sexual harassment went viral in October last year as Hollywood movie mogul Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual misconduct by more than 70 women, some dating back decades. Hundreds of women have since publicly accused powerful men in business, government and entertainment of sexual misconduct and thousands have joined the #MeToo social media movement to share stories of sexual harassment or abuse.

But it’s bogus. Of the 6 questions asked, the U.S. doesn’t even place in the Top 10 on 4 of them. But somehow the U.S. is in 3rd place for “Sexual Violence” and 6th place for “Non-Sexual Violence” and this puts us in the Top 10 (1 is worst):

According to the article, Somalia, for example, is safer for women when it comes to “Sexual” and “Non-Sexual Violence.” Somalia.

Reuters own reporting on rape in Somalia makes the entire survey garbage and it should be thrown in the trash, not promoted. From Reuters in February:

Rape is pervasive and often goes unpunished in much of Somalia where rape victims are traditionally forced to accept compensation and marry their assailants in a centuries-old practice designed to end war between rival clans.

GECPD said it had documented victims’ testimonies and helped them to file complaints, as well as providing counseling.

In December, a 16-year-old girl with mental disabilities was gang-raped by four men suspected to be from the Puntland Maritime Police Forces in the coastal town of Garacad, it said.

CNN posted a similar article but did avoid adding U.S. in the headline for the clicks:

So much for “we are real news, Mr. President.”
