Immigrant caravan arrives in Tijuana as @RealDonaldTrump orders DHS to stop it from crossing 'our WIDE-OPEN BORDER'

The caravan of Central American immigrants that’s been making its way through Mexico has arrived in Tijuana with plans for participants to mass claim asylum on Sunday…

…And in response, President Donald Trump sent this message to his followers, saying “I have ordered the Department of Homeland Security to STOP the caravan of illegal immigrants trying to cross our WIDE-OPEN BORDER”:

Alex Mensing, a project coordinator for the group, Pueblo Sin Fronteras, confirmed to ABC News there were about 150 people in Tijuana, near the U.S.-Mexico border, with about 175 more on their way there from Mexicali. The vast majority are fleeing dire situations in Honduras, and more than half of those in the so-called caravan are women and

Democrats, to say the least, aren’t happy with the administration’s focus on the caravan and the wall. From CNN:

The top Democrat on the committee, Mississippi Rep. Bennie Thompson, had sharp words for Nielsen in his opening remarks, accusing the department of intentionally attacking non-dangerous immigrants as a distraction.

“Based on your press releases this week, you would think the most important homeland security problem facing the nation is a handful of Central Americans moving through Mexico,” Thompson said, referring to a caravan of mostly women and children asylum seekers that takes place every year to call attention to the plight of Central Americans. “That does not make it so. … Better to distract the American people from the very real issues facing the department and perhaps from the President’s own problems too.”
