The mayor of Charlotte and the chief of police briefed reporters this morning on the officer-involved shooting of Keith Lamont Scott.
Highlights…
Because the officer involved in the shooting was in plain clothes, he was not wearing a body camera:

Other officers were wearing cameras, however:
Officer Brentley Vinson who fired the fatal shots was not wearing a body camera but three other uniformed officers were. #keithlamontscott

And this is important since the narrative that set off the riots was that Scott was “reading a book” in his car, which police say was not true:

It’s still not know, however, if Scott actually pointed his gun at officers:

Ane he clarified that Scott exited his car with the gun the second time, not the first time as has been reported previously:

The number of officers injured last night now stands at 16:

And cops are preparing themselves for more unrest tonight:
