'Delete your transphobic mindset': Bette Midler triggers liberals with Caitlyn Jenner joke [screenshot]

Bette Middler is the latest liberal celebrity to find out the hard way that her fellow liberals can’t take a joke. She tweeted, and then deleted, this on Caitlyn Jenner’s now-cancelled reality show, “I Am Cait”:

Yeah, that was a problem for fellow libs:

You're better than this transphobic "joke" https://t.co/SAdX3ZJXB5

Or do I smell a transphobic bitch? https://t.co/p9MxzCXk28

Wow. This is so disappointing coming from someone who's been an "ally" to the community. https://t.co/GASkQxeUk4

After deleting the joke, she offered this apology:

DEAR FRIENDS @HRC, WHOM I HAVE ALWAYS SUPPORTED. SORRY LAST TWEET OFFENDED. AN IDLE MUSING. I SEEM TO HAVE MISREAD THE TEMPER OF THE TIMES.

— Bette Midler (@BetteMidler) August 21, 2016

Dear Bette Midler: I can't take my transness off and neither can Caitlyn Jenner https://t.co/jsNydpHu86

But that isn’t going over very well either:

You didn't misread anything. You were being a terrible example of humanity. @BetteMidler #girlslikeus https://t.co/wpOuv1xNlX

— Monnie the friendly ghost (@MonicaJeaninTN) August 22, 2016

This was supposed to go to @IAmCait, not @HRC, right? I mean you slagged her not the group. https://t.co/e9caE0czle

— notLikeNormalPeople (@notlikenormal) August 21, 2016

Why are you apologizing to HRC and not to, you know, THE TRANS COMMUNITY WHO YOU USED AS A TERRIBLE JOKE? https://t.co/bCUupUWJ5N

— Brynna ??? (@brynna42) August 21, 2016

"SORRY LAST TWEET OFFENDED." But not really sorry https://t.co/62j8WADLeQ
