It’s one thing if a celebrity or journalist doesn’t know the difference between a semi-automatic and an automatic rifle, but shouldn’t we expect more from a Congressman?
Especially a Congressman like Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, a Marine Corps captain who served in the Iraq war:
How about grenades or anti-tank rockets? NO!! Because we outlaw these weapons of war. Automatic rifles should be too https://t.co/h81lU6uJUs

Facts no longer matter, apparently:
Automatic rifles have not been manufactured for civilian purchase since 1987, Blue Falcon. https://t.co/WfAKbBc83q

Surely an Infantry Officer like yourself knows the difference between automatic and semi-automatic, no? Weird… https://t.co/EfJ8yNLEnd

Rep. Moulton says we’re missing the point:
@AdrianaCohen16 @GregCaseyMA @jahimes ignorant! This was NOT an automatic weapon. It was semi auto just like a handgun 1/2

But you're really missing the point, and that much should be obvious.

We talked about universal background checks, banning military-grade assault weapons, and studying the root causes of gun violence.

And he knows that the rifle he’s holding in this picture isn’t available for civilian use and is already illegal on “America’s streets”:
I know assault rifles. I carried one in Iraq. They have no place on America's streets. #Orlando pic.twitter.com/ibKQE2PpqF

Federal law banned new sales of assault rifles to civilians in 1986. https://t.co/pMy7zbnuvs
