In what National Journal termed a career-defining speech, outgoing Colorado Sen. Mark Udall just finished up a blistering attack on the Senate floor where he accused current CIA Director John Brennan of lying about “torture” and called for his resignation (again):
Sen. Mark Udall: “The CIA is lying" http://t.co/u3dyxoaWWF

Udall closes his CIA speech by calling on Brennan to resign — as he’s been saying for much of the year.

Mark Udall using the word "lie" quite a bit on Senate floor in regard to CIA and its handling of torture.
— Rick Klein (@rickklein) December 10, 2014
Of note, Udall did not spare Pres. Obama in all of this saying there is no “moral leadership” from the White House:
Udall: CIA "flippant & dismissive" to oversight, WH "willingness to let the CIA do whatever it likes, even if it means undermining" Obama
— Spencer Ackerman (@attackerman) December 10, 2014
Udall now ripping into Obama's WH -about bloody time
— Steve J (@billeniumbeach) December 10, 2014
Udall: "CIA, assisted by a White House, that continues to try to cover up the truth."
— Spencer Ackerman (@attackerman) December 10, 2014
Sen Udall says he is "deeply troubled" by WH failure to grasp severity of CIA's breach of Senate computers.
— carl hulse (@hillhulse) December 10, 2014
Udall on Obama: "not good enough" on torture. "No moral leadership" from WH.
— Ali Watkins (@AliWatkins) December 10, 2014
Udall: More questions about the White House's interference in our effort. Withheld docs etc. WH should release docs or formally assert priv
— bmaz (@bmaz) December 10, 2014
Recommended
Udall: WH is hiding docs from the committee, has deferred to Brennan.

And maybe the most newsworthy of all of this is Sen. Udall’s continued referencing of the secret “Panetta Review,” a 2011 memo prepared by then CIA Director Leon Panetta on detainee treatment and interrogation techniques:
Wow. @MarkUdall says he's about to explain the findings of the secret 'Panetta Review' of CIA torture right now: http://t.co/hGKf4vFKb4

.@MarkUdall's disclosure of Panetta Review details shows political courage rarely seen these days. Sad Udall losing seat.#TortureReport #CIA
— Lenny Grover (@lennygrover) December 10, 2014
Udall: Panetta Review proves Brennan and CIA still lying
— bmaz (@bmaz) December 10, 2014
Udall now gonna reveal "Panetta Review" re torture. "Refreshingly free of excuses, qualifications & caveats." Says CIA prov inaccurate info.
— Spencer Ackerman (@attackerman) December 10, 2014
The White House, however, is silent:

Earnest won't weigh in on Udall claims on what Panetta Report found. Says it's confidential.

So, where was this version of Sen. Udall during the campaign? Oh, yeah … talking about abortion:
Imagine a Udall Senate campaign that focused a little less on abortion and a little more on attacking the security state.

Thanks, @daveweigel & co., for making me depressed all over again about the utter waste that was the Mark Udall campaign. 🙁

Yep. Remember the Sen. Mark “Uterus” Udall nickname? Or how about his dire warning of a condom shortage? Udall brought this on himself:
Mark Udall says CIA is lying.
Mark Udall said Cory Gardner would ban condoms.

But we’ll end it with this:
God forbid someone strenuously defend women's bodies against state control, guys! @BenjySarlin @daveweigel @Nate_Cohn @ThePlumLineGS
— Joan Walsh (@joanwalsh) December 10, 2014
How’s that working out for Joan Walsh now that he lost his reelection?
