Earlier today, Microsoft presented its latest “groundbreaking” Windows platform to replace the much maligned Windows 8, but what’s making headlines is the name, “Windows 10.” Yes, Microsoft is skipping Windows 9:

It seems silly to skip Windows 9, no? We learned growing up that when counting, it goes 8 … 9 … 10. Maybe this is some of that Common Core math getting funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation?
Anyway, who knows why the branding gurus at Microsoft did what they did, but what we do know is that the name is getting ripped on Twitter. Let the snark begin:
An App Store? Wow, Microsoft. Welcome to 2010. #Windows

Skipping straight from #Windows 8 to #Windows10 makes this parody article all the more hilarious: http://t.co/mpnimtGJwO

The next #Windows version will be Windows 10, skipping 9 for no apparent reason. The company really employs special kind of idiots.

We’ll have to consult a Common Core study guide to see what comes next. Maybe Microsoft starts counting by tens now? “Windows 20, coming soon!” or something like that…
