What a strange new excuse from Nancy Pelosi on why she’s hesitant to begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump: Americans are too dumb to understand it?
Pelosi told members yesterday that a concern of hers, re-impeachment, is lack of understanding by the public. Even the educated voters she meets around the country, she said, assume that once you being proceedings, Trump is immediately ousted from office. https://t.co/Jvu83Aye17

From the Daily Beast:
The Speaker, according to two sources with knowledge of the meeting, expressed concerns that the public still doesn’t understand how the process of impeachment would play out. She noted that in her time over the recess in California well educated voters didn’t seem to understand that impeachment proceedings would not necessarily result in Trump’s immediate ouster from office.
Apparently, this is a thing journos are hearing from voters:
From my experience, which is anecdotal, this is true. Most people I speak to believe that impeachment = removal.
*note: I’m not talking about YOU. I know that YOU know what the process is. https://t.co/aq5fTAW86i

This is correct. People think House Dems have it in their power to sorta kinda remove Trump from office and they’re just not. https://t.co/bHskCaf6UX

This is absolutely true. Aside from the debate over the merits of seeking impeachment (I am resolutely for initiating an investigation), a lot of folks I've talked to don't know that the House impeaches but the Senate convicts for removal. Impeachment does not equal removal. https://t.co/Jdy9QpvHJF

It’s really not that hard to explain and to even suggest that this is one of the reasons why she’s not bringing impeachment proceedings is ludicrous:
The funny thing is that if she announce the opening of an inquiry, EVERY MEDIA OUTLET would explain to the public what to expect.
I mean… and this a bit crazy…. she could actually ANNOUNCE A SCHEDULE for hearings. That would take care of this “deep concern.” https://t.co/x2HR3lihqd
