This morning, most of us who celebrate Christmas woke up to a warm home, presents under the tree, and—if you are like me—the smell of the delicious Christmas dinner my mom was preparing for our family to enjoy today. If you are fortunate enough to share those or similar circumstances, you probably don't need much convincing that the Christmas miracle is real.
But many Americans were not so lucky this morning. In North Carolina and other areas of the United States that were devastated this fall by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, far too many people woke up with the knowledge that their homes were lost, there was no tree to put presents underneath, and Christmas dinner was going to be makeshift at best.
But even with all of that loss and devastation, their fellow citizens made sure that all of those impacted by the hurricanes still felt that Christmas miracle. Citizens like the people of BeLoved Asheville who, overnight and early this morning, played the role of Santa Claus to bring Christmas to children in Western North Carolina.

If this does not bring a tear to your eye and an understanding that the Christmas miracle is real, then you may need to be visited by three ghosts very soon.
And it's not just the people of BeLoved Asheville who made this happen. Yes, they were the ones who went door-to-door to deliver presents, even without a team of reindeer to assist. But they were able to accomplish this feat thanks to the generosity and Christmas spirit of so many other Americans who donated to them.
And BeLoved Asheville is just one of countless similar organizations that make sure each year to bring Christmas joy to everyone who may be suffering, especially children. Toys for Tots from the Marine Corps, The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, Samaritan's Purse, Catholic Charities, the list goes on almost endlessly. The impact of Helene and Milton and the work of BeLoved Asheville just brings all of their work into stark relief this Christmas.
If that is not a miracle, I don't know what is.

More than lights, decorations, ornaments, or our favorite movies (mine is It's a Wonderful Life), this is the true spirit of Christmas, the spirit of giving. And it lives in all of us, even at times when we're not sure it's there.

I don't want to get into all of the ways that the government failed these hurricane victims. There is plenty to talk about there -- and Twitchy has and will continue to do so -- but just for today, I wanted to focus on the people who give of themselves to overcome those failures.

There is no better way to make your Christmas miracle happen. Not just for those in need, but for yourself as well.
And not just on Christmas Day, but every day of the year.
Speaking of Christmas movies, maybe this speech from American treasure Bill Murray in Scrooged sums it up best:

Jesus is real and with us. Santa Claus is real. Love is real. And the Christmas miracle is absolutely real.
