Helene Survivor's List of What Helped Her -- And What Didn't -- Tells Me All I Need to Know

NOAA via AP

As Florida gears up for another monster hurricane this week, and as multiple states continue their recovery from the devastation of Hurricane Helene, I am struck by how these disasters always show the worst and the very best of America and of humanity.

There are so many stories of survival and of people doing everything they can to help out their neighbors. As sad as the situation is in western North Carolina and elsewhere, it is also inspiring to see what we are capable of when conditions are at their most catastrophic.

On the flip side, there is the government. Specifically, with respect to Hurricane Helene, the lies coming from Democrat 'leaders' who seem to only care about winning an election and maintaining power, and not at all about their fellow Americans. (Don't worry. They only seem that way because they are that way).

Immediately following Helene's impact, I saw a tweet from a North Carolina resident that captured the lies of the left so perfectly, As Florida braces for Hurricane Milton, I thought this tweet was a perfect encapsulation of who and what people can really count on when the chips are down.

There it is. Everything the Biden-Harris administration (and just about every other elected Democrat) is admonishing us against, those are exactly what you can rely on during emergencies.

Everything they support? Completely useless in an emergency. Especially all of those billions of dollars we are sending to Ukraine (and Lebanon).

Leah, a prolific conservative account on Twitter, DID leave one important bullet point out of her top list though. But she made up for it a few days later:

I'm glad she added that. Because if Helene has shown us anything, it is how selfless people are in helping their neighbors, while detached bureaucrats, like FEMA and Roy Cooper, are nowhere to be found.

Oh, sorry. I guess FEMA is somewhere to be found. They're online fighting 'misinformation' instead of on the ground.

Helene also revealed how dangerous the left's agenda is for America. They have demonized gas cars, but what good is an EV when the power is out?

They are trying to eliminate natural gas as well, when that is the most reliable fuel source in an emergency because all of those lines are buried underground. And even if flooding has wiped out natural gas service lines, there are still propane tanks and gas-powered generators.

AOC hates all of that. So does Tim Walz, apparently.

Way to go, knucklehead. And Joe Biden was sleeping on a beach. And Kamala Harris was fundraising with Stevie Wonder while eating crab cakes and Beef Wellington.

We already know that Democrats' not-so-secret agenda is that they want Americans completely reliant on the government. They tell us this every chance they get.

Ideologically, this goes against everything that has made America great for almost 250 years. That's bad enough on its own.

Practically speaking, however, it is even worse than that. What Helene and four years of Biden-Harris have shown us is that the federal government is utterly indifferent to the actual needs of Americans. And that it is incompetent, inefficient, and incapable even during its best moments, let alone when people are most in need.

I don't think it is too far a stretch to conclude that forcing everyone to depend on the government will get people killed.

Fortunately, Americans like Bossy Leah, and millions upon millions of others, are not having any of it.
