Producer Announces 'Reinvention' of James Bond and Twitter Has Some Clear Thoughts

MovieClips - YouTube

Despite making nearly $800 billion at the worldwide box office, it has been reported that the last James Bond movie, No Time To Die, actually may have lost as much as $100 billion. In any case ... [spoiler alert] ... the movie made history by actually killing off the legendary British spy (fake deaths in previous films notwithstanding). In response, many fans said, 'It's about time. Just let him go already.'

But Bond producer Barbara Broccoli isn't ready to let 007 stay dead. Instead, she announced this week that the character must be 'reinvented.'

Uh-oh. We know what that usually means.

In fairness, Broccoli didn't say anything specific about the 'reinvention' making the character woke. From Bounding Into Comics:

In an interview with The Guardian to promote the Prime Video reality series 007 Road to a Million, Broccoli informed the outlet that there are plans for the character to be 'reinvented for the next chapter.'

The Guardian’s Tara Conlan added, 'She added that the next film would have to reflect the way the world has changed in the two decades since Craig was confirmed as the sixth 007.'

Wait, there's a reality series? Oh, this franchise truly is finished, LOL.

But even though Broccoli's words may sound innocuous, there is ample evidence of where this is going:

Twitter wasn't at all happy with the promise of 'reinvention.'

LOL. Hollywood is doing to James Bond what Dr. No, Blofeld, Scaramanga, SPECTRE, and so many others never could.

Yikes. All the yikes.

If only they would just let James Bond rest in peace. Hasn't the poor man done enough for Queen and Country?
