People who only get their news from certain media outlets that I'll get to in a minute might not have heard about this terrible story:
A 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee who recently fled her war-torn home for a safer life in the US was knifed to death by a homeless career criminal at a North Carolina train station last week, according to family members and authorities.
Iryna Zarutska suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the East/West Boulevard light rail station in South End, Charlotte just before 10 p.m. Friday, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said Saturday.
Zarutska had “recently arrived in the United States, seeking safety from the war and hoping for a new beginning,” according to a GoFundMe page set up to fundraise for the young woman’s aunt and other family members during the “heartbreaking time.”
Predictably, some media outlets that are covering the story are putting a spin on it like this was from Axios:
The gruesome video of the fatal knife attack on Iryna Zarutska on a light-rail car in Charlotte is drawing attention from MAGA influencers seeking to elevate the issue of violent urban crime — and accuse mainstream media of under-covering shocking cases. https://t.co/OIj3FYfDLE

MAGA is pouncing and seizing again.
This part of the Axios story is just crazy:
A white girl gets killed by a black guy and media’s response after ignoring it for two days is to condemn the surveillance cameras that caused people to notice it. https://t.co/ruwHZ6v1Xb pic.twitter.com/qO2Z6vJt77

Yes indeed, the real problem is cameras catching these horrific acts on tape and not the career criminals doing the killings.
Clearly the story doesn't fit any of the angles the press likes to take these things, so some are just ignoring it:

I searched the AP's website myself, and yep: Zero, zip, nada mentions of this story.
The New York Times wasn't eager to get into this one either:
George Floyd—5,897

Trayvon Martin—1,190
Kilmar Abrego Garcia—56
Daniel Penny—100
Iryna Zarutska—0

All the propaganda that's fit to print (and ignore if necessary)!
What is the editorial reasoning by @nytimes here https://t.co/f1LG0rCRvy pic.twitter.com/max4XUYtQY

Maybe the Times editors would say they considered that to be a "local crime story" (looking at you, WaPo).
In fairness, some outlets, like CBS Mornings, are getting around to reporting the story:
FINALLY: @CBSMornings ends the broadcast networks blackout of the Charlotte, North Carolina murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska by a man with a lengthy criminal record. @SkylerHenry with the report pic.twitter.com/FcBUZfZjBI

CNN couldn't help but make it about Republican reaction, though not quite as shamelessly as Axios did:
At 6:49 AM, CNN reports the murder of Iryna Zarutska. Predictably, the focus is on Republicans pouncing. pic.twitter.com/ASEVt84bgz

Odd that there isn't much of a response from prominent Democrats for them to report. To the Left, Trump is still the real problem when it comes to big city crime.
