WaPo Warning: Trump's 2nd Term All About 'Curtailing Gov't Power and Reach' (JUST LIKE HITLE... Oh Wait)

ImgFlip

Did you know that Trump has had "the most damaging first two weeks in presidential history"?

That's part of the headline for an op-ed in the Washington Post written by Ruth Marcus that tries to make an argument for why a bloated federal government should be protected. The column making the case against Trump administration efforts to cut the size of government makes it sound like an unchecked, oversized and out of control bureaucracy is essentially a founding principle of the United States.

Marcus has in the past of course joined those warning that another Trump term would likely bring with it a dictatorship unlike any other:

This is from a Marcus column in late 2023:

Sen. J.D. Vance wants Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate my colleague Robert Kagan for allegedly inciting insurrection with his recent essay warning of the “increasingly inevitable” dangers of dictatorship under Donald Trump.

[...]

In the current climate, however, the stunt must be taken seriously as a preview of what life under a Trump presidency — or, to use Kagan’s term, a Trump dictatorship — might entail. Because we know, not from Kagan but from Trump himself, along with his constitutionally illiterate enablers, that this is just the kind of abuse of power they contemplate in a second Trump term.

I went heavy on the "Trump wants to be a dictator" who of course we've been told would be worse than Hitler background because it sets up the sub-headline that's so contradictory to the "dictator" talk it might give you whiplash.

Check this out:

"Trump's 2nd term is all about curtailing the government's power and reach." Oh my God... just like a dictator would!

Do these people ever actually listen to themselves?

Whatever happened to her, anyway?
