Today everybody’s talking about Donald Trump’s town hall that was on CNN last night, but CNN ended up bailing out early compared to the length of time the program was originally scheduled:
Note: The CNN Town Hall was a 90 minute broadcast, though the network expected the actual event to go as long as 75 minutes. They stopped less than 70 minutes in. In other words, they could have gone longer if they wanted—which is usually what executives do with big ratings draws

LOL! It became clear that CNN thought they were helping Trump a little more than they intended so after just over an hour the producers were yelling…
However CNN might have been better served to lengthen the townhall instead (and maybe to hold another one):

Former CNN host Brian Stelter shared the numbers but with the spin that Trump is losing popularity compared to his first time around. Trump’s town hall more than quadrupled CNN’s usual numbers in the demo:
Just in: CNN's town hall with Donald Trump averaged 3.1 million total viewers. The event outrated Fox and MSNBC, as expected, but these are not 2015/16 level numbers for Trump — not even close.

In the key 25- to 54-year-old demo, the town hall averaged 703,000, about five times higher than CNN's typical performance at 8pm.

Maybe Chris Licht realized it would do big numbers and therefore be worth enduring all the subsequent lefty meltdowns.
CNN probably had its highest ratings in years tonight… they should send Trump a nice thank you card.

Instead CNN hosts were among others who were having meltdowns over CNN allowing Trump the time.
