President Biden’s first formal press conference gave some in the White House press a chance to prove that they’re little more than unofficial press secretaries for Biden. Others were quite focused not so much on what’s going on currently, but what might happen in three years (and if Trump will be involved):
President Biden is asked if he believes he'll be running against Donald Trump in 2024:
"Oh, come on. I don't even think about — I have no idea. I have no idea if there will be a Republican Party. Do you?" https://t.co/En0Jq7Xzd0 pic.twitter.com/YAiufcKBMp

Biden says he is a "great respecter of fate," so he's not really planning for 2024, although his "expectation" is to run. When asked if he expects to face Trump, he says, "I have no idea if there will be a Republican Party" in four years.

There were a couple of questions about 2024, and by our count there were none asked about Covid-19.
Two months in, asking questions about 2024 re-elect. Yikes.

And they seem genuinely shocked at his answer. There's a hint of "how dare he" to their responses. https://t.co/fzTITJ5Emg

Where would American journalism be—heck, where would America *democracy* be—without brave reporters asking Biden questions like whether he thinks Trump will run in 2024? https://t.co/A3Chlxxi0J

Less than 100 days in and the press wants to know if he is running for re-election in 4 years. Seriously!? @kaitlancollins
