The elections earlier this month made it clear the Democrats will lose several seats in the House, and their majority will be much narrower. At this point it isn’t even clear who will be the Speaker of the House:

Rep. Justin Amash, who left the GOP and joined the Libertarian Party this year before deciding not to seek reelection, has an offer on the table for the entire House:
If neither party has the votes to elect a speaker of the House, I’d be happy to serve as a nonpartisan speaker who ensures the institution works as it’s supposed to—a place where all ideas are welcome and where outcomes are discovered through the process, not dictated from above.

What a generous offer!

Why would they choose you to be a nonpartisan speaker when you’re known for being extremely outspoken and unyielding about your own political agenda? You’re not nonpartisan, just unpopular. https://t.co/atBUUGWHyo

He didn’t choose not to seek reelection for a reason.
Who do you think would agree to that, besides your mom?
