'Seriously?!' DC mayor reportedly exempted herself (and staff) from quarantine regs for this 'essential travel'

When political leaders restrict movements to “essential travel” only during the pandemic, it’s important to remember that they get to decide what’s “essential” — not you. Here’s the latest example:

Dc @MayorBowser & staff attended @JoeBiden victory speech in Wilmington, DE Saturday. Delaware on the Mayor’s list of “High Risk” states which would require quarantine after returning. Bowser staff says the trip was “essential travel” exempted under Mayor’s order. @nbcwashington pic.twitter.com/GOAdajeENp

Why are we not very shocked?

Through their behavior of one set of rules for us and none for them, Democrats and our national news media (but I repeat myself) are showing that they don't care about you. https://t.co/26Sx43I8p1

Mayor Bowser thinks celebrating with her preferred political candidate is “essential” but she does not think your child attending school is. https://t.co/y3XLNfh8s8

Being a Democrat means never having to follow your own rules.

That might be stretching the definition of "essential" just a touch/whole lot. https://t.co/HerL0tzwp6

Seriously?!'
They couldn't set the example and work from home?
Hypocrisy is a stain that dosen't wash out well.

One set of rules…. https://t.co/GLVHtlnyre

I don't think people take kindly to politicians creating public health rules then personally violating them whenever they want to. Just a guess. https://t.co/2uxFwuGQH5

"exempted because I said so" is a terrible message. Tell them to come back with something better.

It's not the rules we object to, it's that there are two sets of them:

One for the powerful, the other for us. https://t.co/WRGOQ4BXwr
