As we told you last night, something on video from the House Judiciary Committee’s impeachment debate last night caught the eye of GOP rapid response director Steve Guest:
‘So solemn. So prayerful’: Congressman caught watching golf on his laptop during impeachment markup https://t.co/GXaNbxUcsx
— Twitchy Team (@TwitchyTeam) December 13, 2019
Guest spotted what appeared to be video of golf on the computer screen of Dem Rep. Cedric Richmond:
What on earth is Democrat Rep. Cedric Richmond watching on his laptop during this impeachment markup?
To me, it looks like Rep. Richmond is watching the President’s Cup golf tournament.
Richmond’s actions are a DISGRACE. #StopTheMadness pic.twitter.com/NloZVJCtHc

Zoomed in.
Yep.
Democrat Rep. Cedric Richmond is watching golf. pic.twitter.com/Qu0Npl8RrD

There would be many ways to report that story, but we’re not surprised at all by this “Republicans pounce” approach:
GOP accuses Judiciary Democrat of watching golf during impeachment hearing https://t.co/YuscsRh8Hw pic.twitter.com/nZ6LDES1QE
— The Hill (@thehill) December 13, 2019
And with that, the Trump campaign’s rapid response director responded:
……What the hell kind of headline is this?
He was literally watching golf. It's on tape. @SteveGuest is not the story here. https://t.co/EHsMT1SUpj

Is anybody surprised by the angle that was taken?
GOP Accuses? It’s right there on C-Span for everyone to see. pic.twitter.com/upgYeJP148

You know the rest of us have seen the video, right?

“GOP accuses” … did he watch golf or not? https://t.co/BnxDqgwK2q

As usual, the Dems can count on the media to help with spin at all times.
I mean…. it’s on tape. https://t.co/H7Cp5kkObo

Wildly dishonest story here. The lead is not the accusation, it's the fact that it's true.

One thing’s for sure:
Just so we're clear — if a Republican had been caught watching golf at their desk during a huge hearing like this the media would have been on it for days. https://t.co/ibYhikdiJG

It’s hard to argue otherwise.
