Obama thanks #ClimateStrike activist for helping 'protect the planet' before taking private jet to visit the Clooneys

This week, Barack Obama praised a young activist for “fighting to protect the planet” from man-made climate change:

There’s nothing quite like flying halfway around the world to thank a climate change activist and hobnob with supportive celebs. But that’s not the only reason for the Obamas’ trip. From the Daily Mail:

The next stop on the Obama’s European jet-set tour will be George Clooney’s mansion on Lake Como.

Former president Barack and first lady Michelle, as well as their daughters Malia and Sasha, are to be the Hollywood actor’s latest guests at his luxurious home in Laglio.

The governor of Laglio has decreed that fines of 500 euros ($565) will be in place for any vessel or vehicle approaching within 300ft of the Villa Oleandra, which is usually accessible to the public unlike typical A-list properties.

The Obamas will reportedly take their private jet to Milan from Provence where they are believed to have been staying at a $60,000-a-week villa in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine region.


Remember when Obama said “at a certain point you’ve made enough money”? Good times. And apparently the threat from climate change caused by fossil fuel emissions has been put on temporary hold so the former president can fly around Europe.
