The South Carolina state Democrat convention coming up this weekend will, as of now, only be available live on one cable net:
C-SPAN, which has never been denied live coverage of a state convention in the network’s 40 years, has reluctantly pulled out of the convention and other weekend events sponsored by the @SCDP. https://t.co/hAByTm36gt

The decision by the South Carolina Democratic Party was a surprise to the outlets … All three had begun to ready for live coverage of the nine-hour event, one of the biggest on the Democratic presidential calendar so far.

On future @SCDP events, @CSPAN's @SteveScully said:
“We will not be covering, absolutely not, and I also told them in no uncertain terms you better think long and hard before you reach out to us to cover something else. We’ll deal with 49 other state Democratic Parties."— Meg Kinnard (@MegKinnardAP) June 19, 2019
According to the AP’s Meg Kinnard, here’s why MSNBC will be the only outlet there:
Why, Meg?

They signed an agreement for exclusive rights with MSNBC. Why? I have no idea. Maybe they didn't want as much coverage as they could have had? ?♀️

All while the left-leaning media say Trump is the real problem?
Meanwhile it's the far Left attacking the media. https://t.co/ykybGkc3tM

2020 is off to a great start for @TheDemocrats
Only *ONE* TV outlet — @MSNBC — will be allowed to deliver live coverage of Saturday’s South Carolina Democratic Convention https://t.co/4ApUORbiWV

Where’s Jim Acosta when you really need him?
You know the Dems really wanted CNN there, but couldn't justify segregating FNC again.

Is MSNBC paying them? This is a bad precedent imo.

This news is just mindboggling to me. Why would a state party restrict live coverage of their convention to just one outlet? What kind of deal did @MSNBC and @scdp reach? ? https://t.co/12DMxnzVid

CSPAN really. I view them as the most objective source out there probably. Would anyone disagree ?
— Okie From Muskogee (@denveriterapids) June 19, 2019
Apparently C-SPAN wouldn’t dig deep and hand over some money to the state Dems for the privilege of covering the convention.
