As we told you earlier, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez totally appreciated Time Magazine correspondent Charlotte Alter unwittingly explaining AOC’s historical ignorance:
'History and reality are unimportant?' AOC's pride in her own ignorance is pretty scary https://t.co/Khj4pI0MYR
— Twitchy Team (@TwitchyTeam) March 21, 2019
Here’s how the initial conversation went:
In order to understand @aoc, you have to look at what she experienced— and what she didn’t. Red Scare, Reaganomics & prosperous 90s were all before her time. Her adulthood was defined by financial crisis, debt & climate change. No wonder she and her peers are moving left
— Charlotte Alter (@CharlotteAlter) March 21, 2019
Yes, and this is not just my story – this is true of wide swaths of our entire generation, who are now poised to become a much more influential civic + electoral bloc as we mature into our 30s & beyond. https://t.co/qevFkieFzk
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) March 21, 2019
Alter then went into greater depth about why she (and AOC) have never… Wait, you know what, just read it for yourselves, but don’t be drinking anything while doing so:
.@AOC and I were born the same year. She was a Dunkaroos kid—I liked fruit roll-ups. People our age have never experienced American prosperity in our adult lives— which is why so many millennials are embracing Democratic socialism https://t.co/hG6iT5XUlv
— Charlotte Alter (@CharlotteAlter) March 21, 2019
Wow. There’s a LOT to unpack there. Let’s start here:
Both made by capitalist companies…………… hmmmmmm https://t.co/hFlTbFPBQC

tweeted from her iPhone https://t.co/49WK5Rc8Qe
— Cuffy (@CuffyMeh) March 21, 2019
Other than that, capitalism bad!
fruit roll-ups and dunkaroos were the brand name snacks that only the lucky kids got. the rest of us got the generic, store brand "fruit fold-outs" or whatever. https://t.co/3YnZtEgUA5

I ain't complaining. It all tastes the same. Just saying the argument that modern generations have never experienced wealth in the US is probably better served without mentioning expensive-ass kiddie snack preferences.
— T. Becket Adams (@BecketAdams) March 21, 2019
Right?
Holy Hell. Americans are spoiled brats. https://t.co/0ALNRaKIEv
— Mickey White (@BiasedGirl) March 21, 2019
That would have been a much better headline for that Time article.
As she types from her iPhone. Bet she’s got running water, electricity and a full belly every night. ?♀️ I didn’t as a child. You’ll survive https://t.co/RSWyZAu887

This is ignorance on an incredible level. https://t.co/q5iDhRCmn1

Im sure the ppl who were born the same yr as you guys and are now hunting down dogs and killing zoo animals in Venezuela, totally agree with you https://t.co/LsamHpbV3M

"Journalist" exists during most prosperous era in most prosperous location in world history and bitches about it. https://t.co/HAe7NuoZDJ

You’ve never experienced hardship you mean. That’s your main problem.
— ⚡️Erick Brockway⚡️ (@erickbrockway) March 21, 2019
And speaking of millennials who want to experience prosperity through socialism:
And as far as embracing socialism, that system guarantees you’ll never experience prosperity.
— ⚡️Erick Brockway⚡️ (@erickbrockway) March 21, 2019
They don’t seem to get that, or have a grip on what “prosperity” actually is, apparently:
Your mother was the executive producer of the Colbert Report.
Your dad is a best selling author and former editor for Newsweek.
And you've never experienced American prosperity? ? https://t.co/vSye7HP3Db
— Andrew Surabian (@Surabees) March 21, 2019
Oh, and a certain former president might not like being tossed under this particular bus:
Man, what an indictment of Obama's 8 years. https://t.co/BFVZwr64FY
— RBe (@RBPundit) March 21, 2019
Bold move, slamming Obama's economy like this.
— Federalist Musket?? (@Patriot_Musket) March 21, 2019
In fact, you might say that it’s racist.
— Ian McKelvey (@ian_mckelvey) March 21, 2019
Final point of order:
To experience "American prosperity in our adult lives" you must first be an adult. https://t.co/ts1kNaecIH
