NBC News' Kasie Hunt comes to defense of reporters serving as Kamala Harris' wardrobe consultants (Brit Hume responds)

As we told you earlier, reporters covering the campaign of Kamala Harris helped her pick out a coat and complimented the choice:

‘SERIOUSLY??’ Journos fawning over Kamala Harris trying on a jacket is ‘just embarrassing’ https://t.co/EliUMNHB82

Brit Hume called it an embarrassment:

This is just embarrassing. So now journalists are going shopping with Harris, helping pick out clothes and then putting out glowing tweets about it. https://t.co/RX2IY0B8JL

NBC News’ Capitol Hill correspondent Kasie Hunt thought she spotted a double standard, and came to the defense of the reporters helping out a Democrat presidential candidate with her clothing choices by responding to Hume this way:

Nobody seemed to have a problem when the candidate was @ScottWalker and the activity was motorcycle riding

Or @MittRomney riding jet skis on vacation

Or skeet shooting with @LindseyGrahamSC

I’m all for female candidates expanding the list of campaign activities https://t.co/KgIgxnNW5x

Hume didn’t see that as any kind of valid comparison:

Talk about missing the point. Did journalists help Walker pick out his motorcycle, then gush about it on Twitter? Did they they help Romney on with his life jacket? That Kamala Harris shopping incident wasn’t coverage, it was participation. https://t.co/tjg7OqJ7uu

Well, there it is!

And now we know it takes a village to dress Kamala Harris!

And the campaign has only just begun.
