As Twitchy reported yesterday, actress, #MeToo leader and Harvey Weinstein accuser Asia Argento has been hit with some allegations of her own:
PLOT TWIST: New report says alleged Harvey Weinstein victim Asia Argento paid off child actor who accused her of sexual assault https://t.co/14g5Nusdiv
— Twitchy Team (@TwitchyTeam) August 20, 2018
That story came by way of the New York Times:
Breaking News: Asia Argento, a leading voice of #MeToo, arranged to pay an actor after he claimed she sexually assaulted him when he was 17, documents show.https://t.co/ptgVHlX9qM

Another actress who is at the forefront of the #MeToo movement and who has serious accusations against Harvey Weinstein, Rose McGowan, was initially stunned by the accusation against Argento:
I got to know Asia Argento ten months ago. Our commonality is the shared pain of being assaulted by Harvey Weinstein. My heart is broken. I will continue my work on behalf of victims everywhere.
— rose mcgowan (@rosemcgowan) August 20, 2018
However, McGowan is also calling on people to reserve judgment of Argento:

McGowan’s tone sure has changed, and many noticed:
I agree we should accord everyone due process & proceed with care. So will you revise your previous counsel? ht/ @LorenaRiro pic.twitter.com/cM5gcK5yjh

Hey Rose, remember this one? pic.twitter.com/i4F8raRStu

Would the reaction have been much harsher had the accused been a man? Many believe so:
This is very hypocritical. I don’t think an almost 40 year old man accused of sexually assaulting a just barely 17 year old that they’d known since they were a little girl (and called her their daughter) would receive the same directive for people to “Be gentle.” https://t.co/Q20ApANabF

Rose, this is one of the most messed up things you could have tweeted right now. If it were a man being accused, you would be on the warpath. But because it’s a woman and it’s your friend, you’re throwing out MAJOR double-standards. That’s incredibly toxic to this movement.

In your own words…”It’s quite simple, believe survivors.” https://t.co/FYKIzP9cqJ

Yea, Asia Argento is your friend, Rose. So you've worked with the predator.
Just three simples: 1) believe the survivor 2) apologise for putting your career before what is right 3) Grab a spine and denounce.
Since you didn't do any, you're a moral coward, Rose. #ROSEARMY https://t.co/1YeI325y1I

in recent months men have been crucified over much less by you and the MeToo movement. They have lost jobs, relationships and respect despite some being cleared of all allegations. This women verses men BS is crippling humanity.
