During the shooting at a Parkland, Florida high school, four Broward County Sheriff Department officers reportedly waited outside the building during Nikolas Cruz’s rampage (minutes after that, officers from a different department went in as soon as they arrived on scene). Janice Dean compared it to other first responders doing something similar:
