Yesterday, President Trump shared a very strong opinion about NFL players who kneel during the National Anthem:
Trump: NFL owners should fire players who protest the national anthem; if fans leave the stadium, "things will stop" https://t.co/e7545e5ENi pic.twitter.com/PVND504XEQ

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell responded with a statement this morning:
#BREAKING: NFL commissioner: Trump's "divisive comments" show a "lack of respect" for NFL https://t.co/on1xSWtpOv pic.twitter.com/kvikH1pvEg

“Divisive comments like these [from Trump] demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL,” according to Goodell.
The NFL commissioner is getting hammered by those on both sides of the issue. Some think Goodell didn’t go far enough:

How about next time you actually name the person you're referring to and what the comments were. What a chickenshit statement. https://t.co/eI8K8I2YOW

And others think Goodell’s contributing to the rapid implosion of the NFL:
And statements like this fail to recognize much of America finds these protests divisive. See, works both ways. Check your TV ratings https://t.co/V4ChQaWCIe

I'm not watching my favorite teams @AtlantaFalcons or @Titans until @NFL stops paid employee players from disrespecting us and our Nation.

The NFL are the ones DIVIDING the country.
Docs, nurses, police, teachers, don't take a knee to whine and protest.
NFL should do their job.— Diana247 (@Diana24724) September 23, 2017
