In October, Valerie Jarrett congratulated President Obama on a history-making year in commuting prison sentences. Obama’s year is getting even more “historic” by Jarrett’s standards:
Pres Obama today grants 78 pardons and 153 commutations of sentence. Brings his pardon total to 148 and commutations to 1,176.

Most of the 153 commutations granted to non-violent drug offenders. Part of Pres Obama's program to correct excessive drug sentences.

At 1,176, Pres Obama has granted more commutations sentence than his 15 predecessors combined.
