DAMAGE CONTROL! Clinton defenders spring into action as #BasementDwellers eclipses #BasketOfDeplorables

Hillary Clinton’s supporters and select media outlets who obey her campaign’s commands are attempting to downplay leaked fundraiser audio of Hillary Clinton describing Sanders’ supporting millennials as “living in their parents’ basement” who “don’t see much of a future” economically.

Hillary’s #BasketOfDeplorables has now been eclipsed by #BasementDwellers, and it’s trending #1 on Twitter this morning.

C'mon.

Nothing says democracy like rigging primaries, deleting subpoenaed evidence, and calling voters names. #BasementDwellers

Funny thing about Hillary's #BasementDwellers comment is that she implies economy is great, yet says they're stuck in parent's basements.

#BasementDwellers #Deplorables if you don't toe the line, Hillary has a name for you

Dear #BasementDwellers,
I don't need your vote, but it'll be your fault if the #Deplorables win.

Always insincerely,@HillaryClinton pic.twitter.com/1oV2YDL6qb

The Clinton campaign is teaming up with some Sanders supporters to do damage control:

Nope.
Don't take it from me, take it from dyed-in-the-wool Sanders supporter @cascamike:https://t.co/0hMtCGCwZm pic.twitter.com/KYNPdYpM3W

this is completely inaccurate if you listen to the tape, @ludacristiano: https://t.co/sjUY4YRwGy pic.twitter.com/73a8F4eDs2

Considering Sanders has endorsed and is now campaigning for Hillary, that’s not a big surprise.

Clinton’s defenders aren’t enjoying the hashtag at all:

1. Taken in context, HRC's comments about #BasementDwellers make aren't an insult, and are completely true. But BernieBros gotta BernieBro.

— Mike Rothschild (@rothschildmd) October 1, 2016

C'mon, Millennials, U are too intelligent & too educated to not read what Hillary actually said before forming an opinion #BasementDwellers

#BasementDwellers The people outraged at her comment clearly don't understand context or ignore it to feign indignation.

#BasementDwellers on this thread should open ears and hear what she actually said. Just a bunch of HRC bashing trolls here pic.twitter.com/byJGK3pkzD

#BasementDwellers
Some jackass made word up. Not what she said. I have millennial at home who proudly says #imwithher. Btw she's in college

— Devin Nunes’ Great Uncle’s Alpaca (@Mayne1Carrie) October 1, 2016

#BasementDwellers: listen to the tape! She is NOT mocking you. Listen, don't just buy into what someone said! https://t.co/A8pTNEvuwt

— Neil Ackerman (@acklaw) October 1, 2016

The term #BasementDwellers is an insult. HRC, clearly never used this term. Listen w an open mind to all she said, she's not insulting any1

— Bryan 'Mr Peanutbutter' Simpson (@BrySimpson) October 1, 2016

Hillary didn't say #BasementDwellers. She acknowledged the economic reality of a generation still suffering from the Republican recession.

— Craig Isley (@ceye) October 1, 2016

Oh FFS. I wish conservatives were critical thinkers capable of parsing nuance & context. #BasementDwellers

— Aღanda (@GrnEyedMandy) October 1, 2016

I see trolls are trying to get something going with #BasementDwellers that is completely out of context.

FYI Clinton didn't actually say #BasementDwellers. She was talking about young ppl being victims of the Bush Recession.

— Twilight Zone (@DaTwilightZone) October 1, 2016

And still being forced to live in basements after almost eight years of Obama’s “recovery”?
