At today’s press conference, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest denied that a $400 million payment to Iran was a bribe to Iranian leaders to secure the release of four Americans being held in that country. Earnest, however, would not answer when asked if the prisoners would have been released if the money had not been delivered.
Iranian leadership has also claimed the cash delivery amounted to a ransom payment, and so Earnest played connect the dots:

Josh Earnest compares Republicans to "right wingers" in Iran who oppose US nuclear deal

Yes, Republicans are the ones making common cause with Iranian hardliners, not the ones who delivered $400 million in cash. Facepalm!

Shameful and ludicrous. WH left w/ nothing but unhinged ad hominem attacks to defend their reckless Iran policy. https://t.co/yqDkgH7h2k
