Yesterday, Michael Moore faced a mountain of criticism for this tweet:
My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren't heroes. And invaders r worse
— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) January 18, 2015
If you took that as a commentary on Chris Kyle or the film “American Sniper” in any way, you misread Moore’s intentions, because here’s today’s spin:
Hmm. I never tweeted 1word bout AmericanSniper/ChrisKyle. I said my uncle killed by sniper in WWII; only cowards would do that 2 him, others

Nice try, but it isn’t selling:

@TheBrandonMorse Not obvious at all. Nope. #Coward @MMFlint

.@MMFlint Ahh, the famous "I didn't mention any1 by name" defense. So what abt these "brave neighbors" who shoot invaders who come 7K miles?
— Laurie (@TherapyDogsRock) January 19, 2015
.@MMFlint Bullshit, we knew exactly what you were saying. Don't backpedal now.

So all the snipers? Got it. This coward can't even stand up for his own words.>>> @MMFlint @FOX2News

Sorry, @MMFlint, but my takeaway is not only didn't you support the wars, but you're okay with our troops being killed. NOT okay.
— Laurie (@TherapyDogsRock) January 19, 2015
@MMFlint
I see an embarrassing apology in your future.— ManBearPig (@borforall) January 19, 2015
Moore added these comments as well:
So ppl want me 2tweet something bout American Sniper? Great acting! Powerful message. Sad ending. There. My FB post: https://t.co/By4leT6b67
— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) January 19, 2015
Oh, and Iraqis are called "savages" throughout the film.
— Michael Moore (@MMFlint) January 19, 2015
Sorry to have to state the obvious again: Invading a country that hasn't attacked you is illegal & immoral. History will judge us harshly.
