Adrianne Haslet-Davis, who was injured in the Boston Marathon bombing and lost part of a leg, was scheduled to record a segment for NBC’s Meet the Press, hosted by David Gregory.
Haslet-Davis says she requested that the names of the alleged bombers not be mentioned during the segment, but according to her tweets, a name was mentioned anyway and she became upset:
I feel so disrespected @meetthepress I asked politely yesterday and you said yes. Now you choose to use the name instead

Let's change the dialect to honor the survivors and not focus on the criminals. Shame on you @meetthepress

Later, David Gregory apologized:
I'm so sorry @AdrianneHaslet was upset tdy + had a bad experience w MTP. As I told her, her comfort level is far more imp than any show

Haslet-Davis received a lot of support, which she re-tweeted:
. @AdrianneHaslet that's real bad precedent @meetthepress is setting for future guests. Disrespectful and deceitful.

According to an NBC News statement via the Boston Herald, Haslet-Davis “requested that the alleged bombers’ names not be used in the entire program, but given the nature of the discussion we couldn’t make that guarantee.”
