Not that critics of Phil Robertson need any extra assistance, but count frequent “Hannity” guest Michelle Fields among those who have labeled the “Duck Dynasty” star racist:

Fields also retweeted this:
Before attacking @MichelleFields, I suggest that everyone read the part about Jim Crow. via @CNN http://t.co/wFikfGj7wR

The article linked above offered as “evidence” that Robertson is a racist puts words in his mouth. For example, Robertson never said African-Americans were “happier under Jim Crow,” but rather those words are the author’s interpretation of what Robertson said, which was a description of his personal experience in pre-civil rights Louisiana.
These tweeters would rather Fields judge Robertson based on what he actually said on this issue and not from separate, agenda-driven interpretations of those words:

@MichelleFields you likely missed the boat, here, dear. Off the cuff colorful quotes doesn't make u a racist. But I respect your opinion.

@MichelleFields RACIST? Is it GQ article you're referencing? A hyperbolic interpretation if so. Or do you have special powers? @allahpundit

.@MichelleFields I'm not for turning anyone into a hero, but calling someone a racist is a serious charge that needs proof. Have any?

@AG_Conservative Um, I’m reading the part on race. Whole lotta words being put in his mouth there.
— American Journalists Publish Chinese Propaganda (@JohnEkdahl) December 20, 2013
@JohnEkdahl Yep. Nothing near what he actually said in the interview.

@CAAmyO @FigDrewton I couldn't care less about Robertson or what he said. Baseless accusations of racism, especially from right, bother me.

Here are Phil Robertson's full GQ comments. Read them and decide for yourself if worthy of a racism accusation: http://t.co/1RCeIzWgZY

Robertson explained his own experience of working equally w/ AA's. NAACP turns that into "he said black were happier under Jim Crow"
— (((AG))) (@AGHamilton29) December 20, 2013
Is it possible Robertson is a huge racist? Of course. However, nothing I read in that GQ article provides serious evidence for it imo.

Fields responds to Twitchy’s post:
I agree w/ u all on most issues but I believe these comments are not ok & diminish the suffering of African Americans http://t.co/HX8ncDBs3u
