The science is settled as far as Mark Ruffalo is concerned. The “Avengers” actor has joined the list of global warmists who refuse to let Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda go to waste while real human tragedy unfolds.
It’s hard to argue that satellite technology in weather forecasting has saved countless lives because storms no longer catch people off guard (storms that even somehow occurred before the industrial revolution). The rockets that put those satellites into orbit are not powered by solar panels and batteries, nor do the planes and vehicles that carry rescue crews and much needed supplies to the scene, sometimes from halfway around the world, run on algae and vegetable oil. Fossil fuels also are crucial when it comes to transporting actors to location shoots and for other film industry uses. The list goes on.
The lesson: Be careful what you ask for.
