'Leadership': Why did Obama call Republicans to the White House?

It was widely reported this afternoon that President Obama had called congressional Republicans to the White House. Those who assumed that the president was interested in negotiating can forget about it, because apparently Obama only summoned some GOPers because he wanted to tell them to their faces that he remains inflexible:
