A passenger train carrying 240 people has derailed in northern Spain. Early reports are that 35 people have been killed and 200 injured.

Some witnesses reported hearing some kind of explosion prior to the crash, though at this point we have come across no reports of terrorism being suspected as a cause of the derailment:
