60 Minutes' clip of Biden interview doesn't suggest there's going to be much hard-hitting journalism on display

You might remember a press conference that then-President Obama had after his first 100 days in office, because a question from a CBS News reporter set the tone for the coming eight years of media water carrying:

During his primetime press conference, President Obama addressed a number of serious topics, among them torture, the flu outbreak, and the struggling economy. There was, however, one light moment, and it came when New York Times reporter Jeff Zeleny asked the president this question:

During these first 100 days, what has surprised you the most about this office? Enchanted you the most from serving in this office? Humbled you the most? And troubled you the most?

How enchanting! The “journalism” on display there was off the charts. I was reminded of that after stumbling upon a video from “60 Minutes” teasing their interview with President Biden that will air tomorrow. Joe Concha is among those who believe the clip indicates just how hard-hitting Scott Pelley’s discussion with Biden will be:

The Biden White House finally agreeing to let the president do a sit-down interview after all these months just as it appears a rail strike has been averted (though it’s not yet a totally done deal) is probably not a total coincidence.

Out of all that’s happening in the country and in the world, with inflation worsening and a constant flow of people strolling across the border illegally, the fact that this is the clip “60 Minutes” chose indicates many softballs are on the way:

Basically Pelley asked Biden how he saved the economy, which is ironic considering the condition the economy is in.

That’s pretty much how that clip comes across.

“We would have seen a real economic crisis.” Um, we’re IN a real economic crisis.

They don’t care. The entire point of this is obviously to try and resuscitate Biden’s approval heading into the midterms.
