Boston Mayor Invites Illegal Immigrants to Apply for $575 Scholarship to Learn to Become Activists

Other blue-city mayors may talk a big game, but none seems as committed to protecting illegal aliens in her sanctuary city of Boston as Michelle Wu. A new political organizing training class sponsored by the city caught the eye of Mass Daily News, which reports that the program is paying immigrants — and only immigrants, regardless of their legal status — to learn political organizing. The city is calling the payments "scholarships," and citizens need not apply.

Mass Daily News reports:

Boston is paying immigrants $575 apiece to complete a 10-week course in political organizing, with no legal-status check on applicants and native-born US Bostonians barred from the program entirely, according to the city's own website.
Immigrants Lead Boston, run by the Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement, is now in its 7th cohort under Mayor Michelle Wu.
The program launched under former Mayor Marty Walsh in fall 2020 and has been continued and expanded by the Wu administration.
The boston.gov program page states applicants may apply "regardless of their immigration status."
That opens the door to green-card holders, DACA recipients, refugees, asylum-seekers, and undocumented residents.
The same page states plainly that "Candidates must be Boston residents, immigrants."
That means native-born US Bostonians are not eligible to apply.

So, the mayor's office is paying noncitizens, and only noncitizens, $575 a piece to turn them into immigration activists.

Mass Daily News adds that the curriculum includes "civic engagement and community organizing," "public narrative," and "immigration history and topics impacting immigrants, racism, and equity." Classes are conducted in English, Spanish, or Haitian Creole.

It's true. The announcement is up on the city's website. Candidates must be immigrants and are encouraged to apply "regardless of their immigration status." We need Harmeet Hammer to come down hard on this.
