UK 'Asylum-Seekers' Being Handed Booklets Teaching Them That Women Are for More Than Rape

AngieArtist

It's too far back in the archives for me to track down at the moment, but I remember writing a post about Germany printing up illustrated guides for "asylum seekers" trying to teach them about the treatment of German women. Just because a woman wasn't covered in a burka didn't mean she was a prostitute looking for sex. There was a cartoon illustration showing a man grabbing a woman's behind with a NO symbol over it.

Never mind … I found it.

This was years back, when a lot of women reported they'd been assaulted while out for New Year's Eve. Henriette Reker, the mayor of Cologne, Germany, took heat over her statement that women need to adopt a “code of conduct” to avoid getting raped in the wake of reports that dozens of women were sexually assaulted on New Year’s Eve allegedly by men of “Arab or North African” descent. They were wearing party dresses, which were apparently too much for their new Muslim neighbors to resist.

The Sun (UK) has a story about England handing out a booklet warning these asylum seekers that rape is bad, as is sex with children.

The Sun reports:

The pamphlet also informs asylum seekers not to have sex with children.

It reads: “The legal age of consent in the UK is 16. This means that anyone under the age of 16 is considered a child and cannot legally agree to have sex.

“Sex with someone under the age of 16 is a serious crime in the UK. There are no exceptions to this rule.

“Even if they say yes, it is still illegal. You could go to prison, lose your support and accommodation, and it will affect your asylum claim.”

Fox News' Bill Melugin picked up on the story:

"… can result in their asylum claims being rejected."

Melugin posts a couple of excerpts:

Gender equality

In the UK, men and women have equal rights. This is an important part of UK culture and is protected by law.

Women can:

• work and earn their own money

• study and go to school or university

• travel freely

• choose who they marry, or choose not to marry

• make their own decisions about their lives

Women do not need permission from a husband, father, brother or any other man to do any of these things.Men and women are treated equally by the law, by employers, by schools and by services like hospitals and the police. It is against the law to treat someone unfairly because of their gender.

Sex and consent

Consent means both people freely agree to sex or sexual contact. In the UK, the law is clear and strict: both people must agree to sex or sexual contact of any kind. This means:

• both people must say yes freely, without threat or pressure

• someone can change their mind at any time, even if they said yes before

• if someone is asleep, drunk, or unable to respond, they cannot consent

Consent is needed in every situation. This means even if you are married or in a relationship with someone, they must consent to sex every time.

If you have sex with someone without their consent, this is called rape. Rape is a serious crime in the UK. You could go to prison, lose your support and accommodation, and it will affect your asylum claim.

It should affect a lot more than your fake asylum claim. From what are you claiming asylum, exactly?

Don't rape any women or children, or we might have to cut your benefits and move you out of your migrant hotel, where we've put you up for free.
