NBC News: Judges Who Ruled Against Trump Say Harassment and Threats Have Upended Their Lives

There are probably protesters outside Justice Brett Kavanaugh's house as I write this. Does NBC News want to talk about conservative justices being harassed at their homes by mobs upset about the Dobbs decision? Do they remember that a man was arrested with burglary tools and a gun that he was going to use to murder Kavanaugh and his family?

NBC News is more concerned about judges who've ruled against President Donald Trump, and there are plenty of them. I'm still trying to figure out what that illustration is that they chose to accompany their story. It looks like a judge in his robes, pointing to a massive pile of pizzas he didn't order that were delivered by a guy on a scooter.

Lawrence Hurley reports:

“I’m not a gun nut,” [Judge John] Coughenour said in an interview. But in light of these threats, “I have armed myself.”

Other judges have been targets of anonymous pizza deliveries that judges see as a form of intimidation. The U.S. Marshals Service, which has the job of protecting judges, suspects some of the deliveries could be tied to foreign actors, three sources told NBC News.

As a result of the various threats and intimidation, judges have had to adapt their daily lives, according to NBC News interviews with six sitting judges, as well as former judges and others familiar with the current threat landscape.

This story isn't making me feel bad for the judges. I guess I should, but the fact that they're ruling against Trump because they're liberal activists dampens my sympathy, as it has for a lot of other people.

I'm certainly not advocating threatening judges, or even having foreign actors send pizzas to their homes — I just find myself completely unmoved by NBC News' effort to get me to care. Donald Trump was shot when he was campaigning, and all I hear about it is that his ear "magically" healed after the "alleged" assassination attempt.
