One of the high points of Wednesday night's GOP debate was when the topic turned to crime. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis was able to say that he fired a prosecutor who wasn't doing her job. That set up DeSantis for accusations of antisemitism because of course, he mentioned George Soros.
Ha ha! A link to the ADL about George Soros "conspiracy theories." Good picture of Soros, though.
Anyone else surprised it took a whole 49 minutes for candidates at the #GOPDebate to invoke antisemitic tropes?

Paging @RonDeSantis ➡️ https://t.co/uhZUEsGgLA
ICYMI: During last night’s GOP debate, DeSantis again invoked George Soros conspiracy theories, an antisemitic trope implying Jewish control over the government.

Antisemitism from the right has become more common – it has dangerous & violent results. https://t.co/DA9mChqKtr
We'll give the Jewish Democratic Council of America one thing: They did call out Ilhan Omar back in 2019.
Get lost.

How can Governor Ron DeSantis be accused of using an Antisemitic conspiracy theory about George Soros if he proudly takes credit for it on the pages of the Wall Street Journal?
— Joel M. Petlin (@Joelmpetlin) August 24, 2023
It's not a conspiracy. It's not a theory. And it's definitely not Antisemitic to criticize him for it. https://t.co/PVGRoMp6y4 pic.twitter.com/7Drmo0LNfM
Knock it off. What a disingenuous distraction. People don’t have to keep their mouths shut about crappy D.A.s dragging their cities down just because the guy funding the destruction happens to be Jewish. What does that have to do with it? That detail is ridiculously incidental.

Soros dumps million of dollars into the political system and then his minions claim anti-semitism as a shield from criticism. Heat meet kitchen

I love his conclusion in that op-ed in which he details how the "conspiracy theory" works. pic.twitter.com/qb9JyMpB9k

Soros pours millions into US politics and financially supports changes to the judicial system through funding extreme progressive DAs who choose not to prosecute many criminals.

It’s a fact, not a conspiracy
My dude,

Mr Soros freely admits to his spending and policy preferences. It's all public record.
Nobody said "the Jews" are doing it. They pointed out, correctly, that Soros is.
You can take offense at Soros, if you like, but don't blame me for your confusion.
And by "conspiracy theories" they mean repeating what Soros himself has said.
— Zaggs (@Zaggs) August 24, 2023
Mainstream media have been reporting on George Soros funding progressive prosecutors for years. It's not a conspiracy theory. This is from 2016.https://t.co/7obhTl6HDt
— Shuko (@ShukoKoga) August 24, 2023
Soros literally writes that he supports reform prosecutors, but it is somehow antisemitic to object to George Soros funding reform prosecutors.
— S (@SammySo_So21) August 24, 2023
We're supposed to cry over poor George Soros getting hit with "antisemitic" attacks? The DAs he puts into office probably let go of the people who literally attack Jews on the street.
