Wow.
Last December, we had to watch the video a couple of times to believe what we were seeing: Police in the U.K. arrested a woman for admitting to praying silently across the street from an abortion clinic. Abortion clinics are even more sacred spaces there than they are in the U.S. — there’s a “zone” inside of which nothing is allowed … not even silent prayer. No bullhorn, no protest signs — just praying will get you arrested and taken away.
It looks like we’re not too far from that future; Watch as a cop tells a Christian protester to shut up and let the LGBTQ community “have their day.” They’ve got a whole damn month and the police force at their disposal.
A Christian man in Pennsylvania has been arrested for reading the Bible.
Damon Atkins was reading a verse from 1 Corinthians 14:33 – during a Pride event in Reading, Pennsylvania but was arrested before he could finish the verse. pic.twitter.com/Pu7kwLe1k7

Looks like clear-cut grounds for a civil suit. Also, the officer needs to lose his job.

You can call the department and ask for the Chief's Office: (610) 655-6116. I just spoke with him and he said he stated that he agrees with his officer's decision to place Damon Atkins under arrest as he felt "disorderly conduct" was taking place.

Sue the whole police department

What a disgraceful cop
— Mary (@C0ntraryMary) June 6, 2023
Three cops.
So let me get this straight, they’re allowed to paint church stairs in rainbow colors and make a mockery of christianity by sexualizing nuns, but someone can’t read a verse from the Bible?
I thought America was a free country, and land of opportunity and all that.

They worked as hard as possible to demonize Christians and get many of us to go along with it, and now we have a country where a man can be arrested for PRAYER while….that stuff is celebrated. This is despicable.

That is a false arrest, you can't arrest someone on the opposite side of the street that is speaking loudly.

Pathetic. One side can parade any perversion they choose on the streets, in broad daylight. This man can’t read from the Bible? Censorship by incarceration should get officers, judges, and lawyers fired and disbarred.

This angers me, not about who but about arresting this dude while thousands rob, steal and loot openly. No arrests. Or open air drug use. No arrests.

Has to be more to the story

There has to, right?
Looks like a First Amendment violation to me. Well worth the filing fee to take it to federal court and see what the city is willing to pay.

Protesters can sit in the middle of traffic but a preacher cannot preach on a sidewalk. Got it!

If this isn’t a clear violation of his Constitutional rights, then I don’t know what is.
— B-Rock (@Bartlar49) June 6, 2023
Why was he arrested? What crime did he commit?

It was their day, and he was supposed to let them have it.
