It’s hard to believe we have a sitting Supreme Court justice who was stumped by the question, “What is a woman?” Riley Gaines reports that the Kansas legislature has passed a bill defining “man” and “woman,” just as the federal government is going through all of its paperwork and changing “woman” to “birthing person.”
Kansas is officially the first state to pass a bill defining the word "woman"!! This would not have passed the veto override without the help of the sole democrat, Rep Robinson, who voted in favor of Women's Bill of Rights.

This bill doesn't create any new laws or prohibit laws from being made. It simply codifies the term "woman" to apply to all legislature that uses that word. It brings clarity/uniformity to Kansas law. Thank you to @IWV for working so hard to get this passed! This is a huge win!!

The Kansas City Star reports:
Transgender Kansans will be barred from single-sex spaces inconsistent with their sex assigned at birth after Kansas became the first state in the nation to pass a sweeping new law over Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly’s veto.
The Republican-controlled Kansas House, mostly along party lines, voted Thursday to override the Democratic governor by a vote of 84 to 41 to enact the “women’s bill of rights.” The Senate, also under GOP control, voted to override Kelly 28-12 the previous day.
The new law, which takes effect in July, will impact a wide array of services for transgender and nonbinary Kansans. For example, people will no longer be able to change their driver’s license to align with their gender identity. Some opponents of the law emphasized that transgender residents can still seek new documents for the next two months, but suggested the new restrictions will face a legal challenge.

That’s a really good question and one worth reflecting on. How did we get to this point? How did a tiny minority of men with gender dysphoria erase the word “women” and replace it with “birthing person” or “person with a uterus”? We weren’t paying close enough attention.
