If it comes down to Biden and Trump again in 2024, this editor will be voting for Trump, no question. But still, it was really lame of him to suggest that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis might be attacked by a woman, even classmates that are “underage” (or possibly a man!). What was the point of throwing that last bit in there? Of course, Trump was lashing out at allegations he’d paid hush money to a porn star with whom he’d had an affair. It was just ugly and stupid.
But speaking of projection, Texas Public Heritage says in its Twitter bio, “Public schools are our heritage. Don’t let politicians take them away.” OK, so it’s an advocacy group trying to stop school vouchers. But what is this about school voucher champion Cory DeAngelis?
Does anyone else find @DeAngelisCorey’s obsession with children a little…strange? We’ve offered a deep dive on the man, the myth, the snake oils salesman behind the voucher scam in Texas.👇 pic.twitter.com/QmoNeX4sOD

Much like Christopher Rufo, Cory DeAngelis is stunningly effective at what he does and has been racking up win after win, letting the money follow the student, not the school. If DeAngelis is “obsessed with children,” what does that make Texas Public Heritage, with its mission of keeping children in failing public schools so they’ll be properly indoctrinated? But wait, they weren’t done.
Republicans don’t care about freedom, rights, or solving problems. They’re just obsessed with your kids. It’s creepy and weird, like @CoreyDeAngelis.
He’s a paid stooge for school choice who’s only interested in one thing–and it’s not ‘parental freedom.’
Hint: It’s your kids. pic.twitter.com/TRouTc4uuW

Yeah, it’s the conservatives who are coming after the kids. Right after Drag Queen Story Hour.

Being anti-school choice is outright weird and usually the result of either extreme political bias or being paid…

Rather than talk about the message you choose to attack the character of the messenger. That stinks of desperation.

What's more strange:
– Taxpayer-funded bureaucrats & lobbyists determined to keep children stuck in broken gov't schools
OR
– A PhD in education policy advocating to allow parents to choose how their children are educated@DeAngelisCorey #TXLege

I find @TexasHeritage_ obsession with trapping low income children in failing government schools pretty strange.
— Fred Steffan (@fsteffanjr) April 12, 2023
This is a disingenuous ad hominem attack on someone dedicating his life to the betterment of education.
That you chose to attack @DeAngelisCorey by implying he’s a pedo says more about you than it does him.— Sean Kyzar (@skyzarbiker) April 12, 2023
“Paid stooge for school choice” is a hilarious failure at an insult.
Cope and seethe, the people education revolution continues.

Does anyone find his obsession with providing kids the best possible education strange? No, not at all. Why aren't you more obsessed with providing kids with the best possible education?
— theRoddick (@OriginalRoddick) April 12, 2023
You not only sound threatened by the safeguarding of children, but your accusatory language around the matter is oddly pointed and specific, almost like you’re projecting.

Tell me you're afraid of school choice, without telling me you're afraid of school choice.

Stay mad about it.
— Stranger Loop (@Recursion_droid) April 12, 2023
Given the complete and utter failure of the government school system, I as a tax payer and a parent in Texas, support @DeAngelisCorey.
But 'only rich kids should be able to go to good schools' is a weird flex.
Really weird.

As your lawyer will tell you, there's a high bar for libel on a public figure, but it can be cleared. I appreciate those whose reach exceeds their grasp and want to demonstrate it.

Does anyone else find @TexasHeritage_’s disgusting, transparent smear of @DeAngelisCorey a little…pathetic.
Yes. Yes, we do.

Project harder. This is a failure. Just like the rest of your pathetic ideology.
— Eddie Starrett (@HighDesertLocks) April 12, 2023
Or maybe it’s because he suffered through sh1tty Texas public schools, and would like people to have another choice, so he took a job where he could impact that. Who knows. Could be anything really…it’s not like he has written extensively about it for years or something…

Who funds you clowns? Bet I know. Bet Corey does as well.
— Provenza ⏱ (@Provena22) April 11, 2023
I don’t understand. Why do you think public schools would necessarily go away with school choice? Is there some reason no one would go there given a choice?

Good question.

Some busybody at TPH is very busy on Twitter trying to come up with a witty rejoinder to every tweet, but they can’t quite keep up with the ratio.
Note: We corrected the spelling of Corey’s name in the headline. – sj
